Hospice work is slower and more personal than hospital work, and it asks for a particular kind of temperament: comfort with uncertainty, patience with families under strain, and the willingness to keep showing up as someone declines. If that describes you, we would like to hear from you.
Positions we hire for
These are the roles that make up a hospice team. Openings change, so send your information whether or not you see a posting. We will tell you honestly whether there is a need today, and if there is not, what to do about it.
Clinical
- Registered Nurse (RN)
- Case management, symptom assessment, family teaching, and the coordination that keeps a plan of care current as things change.
- Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)
- Routine visits, medication management, and wound or personal care support under the plan of care.
- Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA)
- Bathing, positioning, and the personal care that families often find hardest to do alone.
- Medical Social Worker (MSW)
- Advance care planning, family conflict, housing and financial strain, and the practical decisions that surround a death.
- Chaplain / spiritual counselor
- Spiritual and existential questions, on the family’s terms and in whatever tradition they hold, or in no tradition at all.
- Bereavement counselor
- Support for families during the illness and through the year after the death, including groups and one-to-one follow-up.
- Hospice physician / medical director
- Oversight of the plan of care, certification and recertification, and collaboration with the attending physician.
Leadership
- Director of patient care services / clinical manager
- Clinical oversight, leadership of the interdisciplinary team, and the documentation and compliance a hospice lives on.
Outreach & sales
- Community liaison / hospice sales representative
- Relationships with hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, physicians, and senior communities: educating referral sources about hospice eligibility and how care begins. This is a sales and outreach role, measured on referrals and the quality of the relationships behind them.
Operations
- Intake & scheduling coordinator
- First calls, eligibility intake, nurse scheduling, and the phone that families and referral partners reach at any hour.
- Administrative / office support
- Medical records, authorizations, supplies, and the paperwork that keeps visits happening and clinicians in the field.
